Solex AO Scan Can Help With SIBO

SIBO

So Long SIBO

We thought to add some general information about SIBO—small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth—to our Solex. Life blog as it is a challenge for an overwhelming number of AOP practitioners and patients. Below are some thoughts from a variety of practitioners. *Of course, check with your doctor before doing anything.

About AO Scan and SIBO: Have you seen hydrochloric acid coming up” out of range” on your AO Scans? Did you know that you need adequate levels of hydrochloric acid in your stomach to digest food and keep bacteria in check?  Watch for this and other things like H-pylori and e-coli coming up repetitively on your various AO Scans.

Bacterial Overgrowth Overview, Causes, Tests, and diagnosisIt’s critical to recognize and identify symptoms before we proceed through the step-by-step process to help treat SIBO.

Have you ever been unable to button your pants due to gas or swelling? If you’ve ever experienced gas or swelling and you’ve been diagnosed with IBS, there’s a good chance you have small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). Even if you don’t experience symptoms like abdominal swelling to an extreme, any amount of swelling is not average. Bloating is a symptom of intestinal inflammation, one of the SIBO symptoms most frequently seen.

When learning how to treat SIBO, knowing how to identify and recognize symptoms is crucial.

What is SIBO?

Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, known as SIBO, is precisely what it sounds like. Too many bacteria colonize the small intestine instead of being balanced.

I indeed think of your microbiome as a rainforest inhabited by many species that work together to support your immune system, thyroid function, bone health, and overall health.

The majority of bacteria living in your gut belong to the species Prevotella.

They are crucial for breaking down food, producing vitamins, and eliminating waste in your large intestine and colon. However, taking medications or eating a poor diet may alter the balance of your rainforest and lead to symptoms of SIBO.

When your rainforest is unbalanced, bacteria in your large intestine and colon replace those typically found in the small intestine, triggering SIBO symptoms

. Additionally, your gut is naturally well-lubricated and protected by mucus. However, intestinal bacteria can damage the mucosal lining, creating an open door for bacterial biofilms — or groups of microorganisms adhering to a slimy layer of protection.

If the mucus is damaged, bacteria attached to the cell membrane are more challenging to control.

The 10 Chief SIBO Symptoms

Sometimes, too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.

This is true when it comes to small intestinal bacterial overgrowth.

Too much good or bad bacterial flora in the small intestine can create a variety of gastrointestinal problems that interfere with the normal digestive process.

SIBO symptoms can range from digestive imbalance to chronic illness and autoimmune diseases.

And YES, too many probiotics may not be what you need—they may be hurting you. My favorite supplement line for all things gut is BodyBio. Check them out.

Bloating, Gas, and Diarrhea

Bacteria in the small intestine that have absorbed undigested food metabolize it and produce either methane or hydrogen, which are then released in bowel movements. I will discuss hydrogen vs methane in a moment.

Abdominal pain.

Intestinal inflammation caused by bacterial overgrowth is often painful, mainly cramping.

Constipation is less common than diarrhea.

SIBO can adversely affect the natural gut flora, impairing waste elimination.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) or Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)

One study proved that nearly 80% of people with IBS also had SIBO.

Therefore, SIBO symptoms are incredibly similar to those of IBS.

When the SIBO was treated, nearly half of the patients experienced an improvement in their IBS.

Food Allergies the Cause?

Food allergies are harmful reactions to certain foods.

The immune system mistakes certain foods as harmful invaders and attacks them.

There are two kinds of food allergies: immediate and delayed.

The immune system attacks the food before it can be digested, causing allergic symptoms.

Food allergies can be mild or severe, with some symptoms lasting only a few hours and others lasting days or even years.

Food allergy testing is used to test for and diagnose food allergies.

For test results to be accurate, a food must cause a reaction in the person being tested.

Although food allergies are rare, they are not unknown. Food allergy testing is available on request and can be done through your doctor or with your AO Scan Technology.

Speaking of Food Allergies, have you seen the expanded Food Sensitivities and Allergy portion of the AO Scan Technology Vital Scan

SIBO causes dysmotility, which prevents the body from absorbing nutrients properly and permits food and bacteria to linger in the gastrointestinal tract, increasing inflammation even further.

Furthermore, SIBO causes histamine intolerance, which inhibits your ability to absorb nutrients properly and causes constipation.

When the junctions that keep your intestinal wall closed become leaky, toxins, germs, and unfinished food particles can escape into your bloodstream and be attacked by your immune system.

Your immune system sees these particles as foreign invaders and attacks them.

A condition that lasts for a prolonged period.

When the colon is still open, and particles enter the bloodstream, your immune system sends out waves of inflammation.

In response to wave after wave of inflammation, your immune system produces poor-quality signals and fires less accurately.

Molecular mimicry occurs when antibodies are created against molecules similar to yourbody’ss own tissues. These molecules are present in large amounts in the bloodstream after particles escape the colon.

Vitamin and Mineral Deficiencies

Even if you eat enough vitamins and minerals, they may not be absorbed into your body since the gut lining is compromised if you suffer from deficiencies.

Poor absorption of fat.

Because bile acids are responsible for breaking down and absorbing fat while lacking in people with SIBO, a pale-colored stool is produced that is also large and stinky.

Rashes Are a Common Problem, Particularly Those Associated With Rosacea, Which Can Be Difficult to Treat.

The presence of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth causes the release of cytokines (regulators of host immune responses that promote inflammatory reactions) in response to rosacea and other skin rashes.

Our food is broken down by enzymes in the mouth before it enters the stomach and then travels down the digestive tract to the small intestine, where bacteria are passed along to the colon.

Unfortunately, this process may be disrupted by a variety of risk factors, including:

SIBO produces hydrogen and methane gas.

The overgrown bacteria in your small intestine can thrive during colonization, consuming the undigested food passing through.

This process produces hydrogen, which is fermented sugars.

In addition to being single-celled organisms, the archaea in your small intestine are fed on hydrogen.

Your gastrointestinal tract produces excess gas in addition to a range of digestive, psychological, and chronic disorders as a result of SIBO.

Do You Have SIBO Symptoms or IBS?

Although symptoms of SIBO are very variable in different people, these signs are expected to be invisible. Up to 15% of healthy people and 80% of people with IBS have SIBO.2

Are you sure you have small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)?

I believe”“too much of a good thin”” can lead to”“a bad thing”” In this case, SIBO, too much good or bad bacterial flora in the small intestine can disrupt your usual digestive process.

Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) is an underdiagnosed condition that can cause many uncomfortable symptoms in dogs and cats. Here are a few of the most common signs:

Tests for SIBO.

It would be best if you understood the difference between small intestinal bacterial overgrowth types before I explain the most effective and accurate lab tests for SIBO3. Now that we’ve covered the two types, I’ll tell you how they affect testing.

Methane vs Hydrogen

When bacteria overgrow in the small intestine, the carbohydrates they eat may ferment before digestion, producing hydrogen gas. Elevated hydrogen levels in the GI tract cause SIBO symptoms.

SIBO Hydrogen

A rise in hydrogen on a breath test signifies the presence of hydrogen SIBO. This kind of bacterial overgrowth is also known as diarrhea-prone SIBO because the by-products of carbohydrate fermentation cause osmotic movement, which results in water uptake in the bowel and diarrhea.

Unfortunately, hydrogen SIBO can also damage yourgut’ss mucosal lining, leading to lactase deficiency. This is one reason sudden food intolerances are a sign of an underlying gut infection.

Methane gas intestines

Since the archaea in your gut increases the methane production as the hydrogen feeds them, this can reduce your hydrogen levels, which is why you can get a false negative hydrogen breath test result and still have methane SIBO.

If you have small intestinal bacterial overgrowth and constipation as your main symptom, you are almost certainly suffering from methane SIBO.

Ifyou’dd like to know which bacterial type (SIBO hyd or methane) you have, your lab testing should identify that.

SIBO Testing Options

AO Scan Testing & SIBO

Did we mention that we can easily see energetic patterns of intestinal bacteria and the type of bacteria in the body field?  Using our AO Scan Technology, our frequency-based testing can be done in a clinic or over the phone. Tests are non-invasive, and there are no contraindications. The test can be done repeatedly in minutes, so it is easy for naturopaths, health coaches, biohackers, or YOU to understand better how the body is ebbing and flowing as it relates to bacteria.

Our AO Scan Technology is the best place to starts and can be followed up by any of the below tests. Would you like more information on our scans?  CONTACT us.

A breath test is used to determine whether alcohol is present in aperson’ss system.

Is alcohol or gut fermentation coming up often on your AO Scan?  Here may be why…

This is the most accurate and reliable SIBO test. It determines whether the bacterial overgrowth is hydrogen—or methane-dominant. It’s a bit messy, though.

Before measuring your baseline levels of hydrogen and methane, you must fast for 12 hours and then breathe into a small balloon.

Next, you must precisely consume a set amount of sugar to feed the bacteria and take repeated breath samples every 15 minutes to see if hydrogen or methane levels increase.

Hydrogen dominance may be present in your body; however, this doesn’t necessarily mean only one kind of gas is present. It is also possible for one gas to be predominant over the other.

The Aerodiagnostics Lactulose Breath Test is excellent.

The Organix Dysbiosis Test is a method for detecting signs of bacterial imbalance in the intestine.

Your one-shot SIBO test produces by-product pee if you have yeast or bacteria overgrowth in your small intestine. This SIBO test is much simpler and requires only a single sample.

Despite being much more straightforward, it doesn’t ascertain whether your bacterial overgrowth is hydrogen- or methane-dominant.

The Comprehensive Stool Test is a diagnostic tool used to determine the presence of occult blood in the stool.

These are also functional medicine tests measuring the flora of the large intestines.

If I notice an increase in all the good bacteria, I believe I have SIBO.

I often use stool testing to test for multiple gut infections at once.

This was mainly due to Candida overgrowth, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, and parasitic infections co-occurring.

The 3-Step Treatment for SIBO is listed below.

To get rid of SIBO, most people should take a three-step strategy that restores their gut’s natural equilibrium.

In it, you will find all the information you need to conquer SIBO.

There are a number of great products on the market, but we have found that Cell Core Biosciences or BODYBIO are great choices, along with charging sugar pellets and mineral water with the appropriate frequencies.

I was starving the overgrown bacteria in step 1.

Eliminate all sugar and alcohol from your diet, and limit starchy foods, fruits, and legumes.

Suppose you’ve got your gut back in balance. In that case, you may eventually be able to reintroduce some inflammatory foods but avoid gluten and dairy, in particular, if you have an autoimmune or thyroid condition.

Step 2: Attack the Bacteria

Some doctors frequently use Xifaxan and Neomycin to battle the harmful bacteria.

Neomycin is more effective against hydrogen-rich SIBO and Neomycin against methane-producing SIBO.

By wiping out pathogenic microorganisms with the least amount of impact, the healthy gut flora is killed without damaging the pathogens.

Your SIBO symptoms may remain the same if starving the overgrowth and attacking the bacteria have little effect, as a biofilm may have formed around the bacteria, making it more challenging to eliminate.

In these cases, it is often recommended that a biofilm disruptor be used. This disruptor is usually a blend of magnesium caprylate, berberine, and extracts from Tribulus, sweet wormwood, barberry, bearberry, and black walnut.

These ingredients work to eliminate the bacteria naturally, as well as to kill them. Many of these herbs also take care of a parasitic load.

Look for supplements to use in place of broad-spectrum prescription antibiotics. These can eradicate harmful and beneficial microorganisms, a great way to support your quest for optimal health.

Step 3: Restore Your Good Bacteria

To recap, you must recolonize your intestinal tract with good bacteria at the end of the treatment.

This will boost your immune system, enhance digestion, and nourish your body.

In addition to SIBO, you should also be aware of certain probiotics that might fuel the fire.

The Problem with Most Probiotics Is That They Do Not Support a Firmly Established Probiotic Industry.

When there are too many microbes in your small intestine, it is often due to an overgrowth of lactobacilli or bifidobacteria.

Most probiotics contain these bacteria, so including them in your diet is another way to increase the bacteria in your intestine.

Your symptoms may indicate small intestinal bacterial overgrowth if probiotics containing lactobacillus or bifidobacterium worsen them.

Why Soil-Based Probiotics Are Best for SIBO

Soil-based probiotics don’t contain lactobacillus or bifidobacterium strains, so they don’t colonize the small intestine or nourish the bacteria already there.

In other words, they provide all the benefits of a probiotic without containing lactobacillus or bifidobacterium.

Using the AO Scan Technology and some of these strategies, we hope you can combat your signs and symptoms of SIBO and regain your health in the long run!
