If you have ever looked at an AO Scan report and wondered, “What does AO Scan actually measure?” you are asking one of the most important questions you can ask about this technology.
It is also one of the easiest areas to misunderstand.
AO Scan can display information associated with organs, body systems, hormones, nutrients, blood components, chromosomes, emotions, voice frequencies and thousands of other categories.
But seeing the word glucose inside an AO Scan report does not mean AO Scan just measured your blood glucose.
Seeing thyroid does not mean it measured your TSH, T3 or T4.
Seeing albumin does not mean it performed a serum albumin test.
And seeing a frequency associated with an organ does not mean AO Scan took a picture of that organ or diagnosed something wrong with it.
That distinction matters.
AO Scan is an educational frequency-wellness technology. It works within its own proprietary framework of frequency patterns, Blueprint Frequencies, comparisons and optimizations.
Once you understand that, the reports become much easier to use—and, in my opinion, much more interesting.
So, What Does AO Scan Actually Measure?
The word measure can create the wrong picture in our minds.
When your doctor orders bloodwork, something physical is being measured.
A blood glucose test measures glucose in a blood sample.
A thyroid panel measures specific substances such as TSH, T3 or T4.
A pulse oximeter estimates oxygen saturation.
An MRI, CT scan or ultrasound gathers physical information about anatomy.
AO Scan is not doing any of those things.
It does not draw blood.
It does not collect saliva.
It does not perform imaging.
It does not sequence DNA.
It does not diagnose disease.
Instead, AO Scan evaluates and organizes informational frequency patterns within the AO Scan system and compares those patterns with stored frequency references called Blueprint Frequencies.
The resulting relationships are then organized into the different reports you see throughout the technology.
That is why I teach people to think:
patterns—not pathology.
Those two words can completely change how you use AO Scan.
Instead of opening a report and asking:
“What disease does this say I have?”
I would rather you ask:
What pattern am I seeing?
Has it appeared before?
Is the same general theme showing up somewhere else?
What has changed in my life recently?
Does this information give me something worth paying attention to?
That is a much better way to begin.
AO Scan Frequencies: What Does “Frequency” Actually Mean?
Frequency itself is not a strange or alternative concept.
It is basic physics.
At its simplest, frequency describes how often a repeating event or wave occurs during a given period of time.
Sound has frequency.
Light has frequency.
Your voice contains frequencies.
Electrical signals contain frequency components.
Music is built around frequencies.
When you speak into a microphone, your voice can be digitally captured and broken down into measurable acoustic characteristics, including fundamental frequencies and harmonics.
That part is established science.
Where we need to be precise is what comes next.
The fact that frequencies exist does not automatically prove every wellness interpretation attached to a frequency.
That is an important distinction, and I think making it actually strengthens the conversation around AO Scan.
There are really two layers:
Frequency itself is established physics.
AO Scan’s interpretation and organization of frequency information is its proprietary wellness framework.
We do not need to blur those together to find AO Scan fascinating.
Think of AO Scan More Like Tuning Than a Blood Test
One of my favorite ways to explain AO Scan frequencies is with a piano.
Imagine a perfectly tuned piano.
Each note has a reference frequency.
If one string moves away from that reference, the note may sound sharp, flat or simply different from what we expect.
We can compare the note being produced with the reference.
But we are not diagnosing the piano with a disease.
We are looking at a relationship to a reference point.
That is much closer to the way I want you to conceptualize AO Scan.
AO Scan contains an enormous proprietary library of reference frequencies known as Blueprint Frequencies.
Different parts of the technology compare frequency information with those references and organize the resulting relationships into reports.
So instead of thinking:
“AO Scan measured my albumin.”
Think:
“AO Scan showed me information associated with the Blueprint Frequency represented under albumin inside its database.”
Those are two very different statements.
And that distinction becomes extremely important when you start interpreting results.
What Are AO Scan Blueprint Frequencies?
Blueprint Frequencies are one of the foundational ideas behind AO Scan.
I think of them as reference points inside the AO Scan frequency library.
Go back to our piano.
If we want to determine whether a note is in tune, we need some idea of the frequency that represents the intended note.
The reference gives us something against which to compare.
AO Scan applies a similar concept throughout its frequency system.
The technology contains frequency references associated with a very large number of categories, including areas related to:
- organs
- cells
- body systems
- hormones
- nutrients
- chromosomes
- emotions
- biological compounds
- environmental factors
- and many other informational categories
Different AO Scan modules organize and interact with these Blueprint Frequencies in different ways.
That last sentence is important.
Not every AO Scan module is doing exactly the same thing.
Inner Voice is not simply another version of Comprehensive.
SEFI is not the same thing as Vitals.
And an optimization is not the same thing as generating a scan report.
We will get into each of those.
But first, there is another piece people naturally want to understand.
How Does AO Scan Know Who It Is Looking At?
Before you begin scanning, you create a client profile.
The AO Scan system uses personal profile information to establish the individual associated with that profile.
Depending on how the profile and scan are being used, that information can include things such as:
- name
- date of birth
- height
- weight
- gender
- a short voice recording
- and, optionally, a photograph
Over the years, you may hear people in frequency wellness refer to this as establishing a person’s energetic signature or identifying the target.
That language can sound mysterious if nobody explains what they mean.
Within the AO Scan framework, the profile establishes the specific individual the software is working with.
Once that profile exists, it can be selected again for later scans and frequency sessions.
And there is one little detail I want to clarify because I have heard this explained in ways that make things unnecessarily confusing.
Your Email Address Is Not Your Energetic Signature
An email address may be associated with a client’s account or used to send information and reports.
But I would not describe someone’s email address as the thing creating their energetic identity.
An email address can change.
It is an administrative and communication field.
The individual profile is what identifies the person being worked with inside the AO Scan system.
That is the cleaner way to understand it.
Is an AO Scan “Energetic Signature” a Medical Measurement?
No.
And this may be one of the most important lines in this entire article:
An energetic signature, as the term is used within the AO Scan frequency framework, is not an established clinical biomarker or conventional medical measurement.
That does not mean I dismiss the information.
Quite the opposite.
I have worked with AO Scan and frequency technology for more than a decade, and I have seen enough interesting repetition and pattern recognition to keep me endlessly curious.
But curiosity and diagnosis are not the same thing.
I don’t need AO Scan to pretend to be a laboratory test in order for the information to be useful to me.
Sometimes a pattern makes me stop.
Sometimes I see the same theme repeatedly.
Sometimes several seemingly unrelated categories appear together and give me something new to think about.
Sometimes the scan makes me look more closely at my sleep, nutrition, stress, movement or environment.
And sometimes it raises a question that I decide is worth confirming through conventional testing.
That, to me, is one of the most useful ways to work with this technology.
Scan and Know does not mean scan and diagnose.
It means:
scan, observe, learn and decide what deserves your attention.
If AO Scan Shows Glucose, Did It Measure My Blood Sugar?
No.
This deserves to be unmistakably clear because it is one of the easiest mistakes for a new user to make.
Seeing the name of a biological substance inside an AO Scan report does not mean the system directly measured the physical concentration of that substance in your body.
| If AO Scan shows information associated with… | It is NOT directly measuring… |
|---|---|
| Glucose | Blood glucose in mg/dL |
| Albumin | Serum albumin concentration |
| Estrogen | Blood, saliva or urine estrogen levels |
| Thyroid | TSH, free T3 or free T4 |
| Iron | Ferritin, serum iron or iron saturation |
| Oxygen-related categories | Pulse oximetry or arterial blood gases |
| An organ | Medical imaging or anatomical pathology |
| A chromosome | Genetic sequencing |
| A nutrient | Blood or tissue nutrient concentration |
Does that make the information useless?
Not at all.
It tells you what type of information you are looking at.
If something associated with glucose continually attracts my attention in AO Scan, I may start looking at what else is showing with it.
I might think about:
What have I been eating?
Am I moving after meals?
How is my sleep?
What is my stress level?
Has this appeared repeatedly or was it one random scan?
And if I actually need to know what my blood glucose is?
I use an appropriate glucose measurement.
AO Scan and laboratory testing are not competing to answer the same question.
That is exactly why I think it is so important to understand what AO Scan measures—and what it doesn’t.
How Is Inner Voice Different From Vitals and Comprehensive?
This is where understanding how AO Scan works becomes much easier.
AO Scan is not one giant scan that looks at everything in exactly the same way.
Different modules are designed to organize frequency information differently.
Inner Voice Starts With Your Voice
Inner Voice is one of my favorite parts of AO Scan because the input is something we can easily understand: your voice.
When you record your voice, you are creating a real acoustic signal containing measurable frequencies and harmonics.
AO Scan analyzes tonal patterns within that short voice recording and uses its proprietary system to identify frequencies that are more dominant, more supportive or less represented. It then creates personalized balancing harmonics based on that voice spectrum.
That is one reason I like using Inner Voice in the morning.
I can record it, put on my headphones and listen to the resulting harmonics while I am walking the dog.
And I don’t expect tomorrow’s Inner Voice to look exactly like today’s.
My voice can change.
My energy can change.
My stress can change.
My sleep can change.
What is happening around me can change.
I think of Inner Voice as very much a snapshot of the moment.
It is not telling me what disease I have.
It is giving me another interesting piece of information to observe.
What Does the AO Scan Vitals Scan Look At?
Vitals takes a different approach.
Instead of beginning with the acoustic spectrum of your voice, AO Scan Vitals compares hundreds of proprietary Blueprint Frequencies associated with biological functions and systems.
It is intended to give you a relatively quick overview of energetic patterns across many categories.
This is where people sometimes get into trouble by reading the terminology too literally.
Vitals may contain the names of compounds, nutrients, structures or biological functions that we also see on medical tests.
That does not turn the Vitals report into medical testing.
I use it as a map.
What catches my attention?
What seems to repeat?
What is grouped together?
Has something moved since the last time I looked?
What might be worth learning more about?
Those are the questions I care about.
What Does the Comprehensive Scan Measure?
Comprehensive goes broader.
It explores frequency representations associated with a large range of categories, including organs, cells, bones, chromosomes and other areas represented within the AO Scan database.
The results are displayed as variances within the AO Scan system rather than conventional medical values. Current Comprehensive reports use a numerical relationship ranging from 1 through 9, with the middle representing the system’s preferred balance range.
Again, that number is not a laboratory number.
A 2 beside a particular item does not mean you have “2 units” of that substance.
An 8 does not mean you have eight times too much of something.
It represents where that frequency relationship landed within the AO Scan reporting system.
This is a perfect example of why understanding what AO Scan measures before interpreting the report is so important.
Without that context, somebody can take an informational number and give it a medical meaning that the technology never measured.
Check out our Basic Training Module for the Comprehensive Scan:
What About Body Systems?
Body Systems lets you zoom out.
Instead of looking at individual entries one by one, it organizes hundreds of Blueprint Frequencies around 13 body-system categories.
I really like this concept because bodies do not work as disconnected lists.
Everything talks to everything.
If several entries associated with one system continually attract my attention, that can sometimes be more interesting to me than one isolated result.
I am always looking for the bigger pattern.
That is the recurring theme of how I use AO Scan:
zoom in when something is interesting, but don’t forget to zoom back out.
Where Does EZ Scan Fit In?
EZ Scan is the streamlined version.
It combines Inner Voice, Vitals and Comprehensive, along with their associated optimizations, into one process.
This is exactly why I use it so often.
I don’t necessarily want to spend my entire morning running every module separately.
I want useful information.
I want to notice patterns.
I want the balancing frequencies.
Then I want to go live my life.
That is also why I recently wrote about how often you should use AO Scan.
Just because we have access to an enormous amount of information does not mean we need to repeatedly scan every possible category all day long.
More data is not always more understanding.
What Is AO Scan Optimization?
This is another word that deserves an explanation.
Scanning and optimization are not the same thing.
The scan generates informational results within the AO Scan system.
The optimization is the frequency-based portion that follows, where the software generates or delivers selected balancing frequencies based on the information from the scan.
In several AO Scan modules, the bone-conduction transducer can be used during scanning and frequency optimization.
I often explain it this way:
Scanning is listening.
Optimization is answering back with frequencies.
That is a simplification, but it helps people understand why there are two different parts to the process.
You can learn from the information.
You can also choose to work with the frequencies.
Those are related, but they are not identical.
Why Does AO Scan Use Bone Conduction?
Bone conduction sounds futuristic, but bone conduction itself is not unusual.
It is simply another way acoustic vibration can be transmitted.
Traditional headphones primarily send sound waves through the air and into the ear canal.
Bone-conduction technology delivers vibration through contact with the bones of the skull.
AO Scan uses a bone-conduction transducer with several of its frequency scans and optimizations.
What I do not want to do is use the fact that bone conduction is established technology as proof of every wellness interpretation inside AO Scan.
Those are two different things.
The physical delivery of vibration is one subject.
What AO Scan associates with a particular frequency is another.
That distinction keeps our science clean.
Where Does SEFI Fit Into AO Scan?
SEFI stands for Subtle Energy Frequency Imprinter.
And I don’t really think of SEFI as another “scan.”
SEFI is designed around working with frequencies.
Within the AO Scan platform, users can select frequencies or playlists and use SEFI functions to broadcast them or imprint them into an object or medium.
This is where I might work with a frequency playlist differently from the way I would look at a Vitals report.
For example, I may choose frequencies I want to work with and listen to them through the headset.
I may use broadcast options.
I may imprint selected frequencies into something such as sugar pellets or tea.
That is part of my personal frequency-wellness practice.
But once again, I separate what I personally do with the technology from making a claim that conventional science has established that an imprinted substance carries a clinically measurable therapeutic effect.
You can be fascinated by something and still be precise about what is known.
I think we need much more of that in wellness.
How Can AO Scan Work Remotely?
This is usually the point where somebody says:
“Okay. I understand the headset. But how can you scan somebody who isn’t even standing beside you?”
Fair question.
Remote scanning is part of what makes AO Scan so fascinating to many users.
Once a client profile has been established, that person can be selected as the target inside the AO Scan system.
Certain AO Scan functions can then be performed with that selected profile even when the person is not physically beside the practitioner.
SEFI, for example, specifically uses the language of selecting a client as the SEFI Target before using its broadcast or imprinting functions.
Within frequency-wellness circles, you will hear this discussed using terms such as:
energetic signature
informational field
target
subtle energy
resonance
and sometimes quantum.
This is where I want to be very thoughtful with our words.
Is Remote AO Scan Scientifically Proven?
Not in the same way that we can scientifically demonstrate a blood glucose meter measuring glucose in a blood sample.
There is not established conventional medical science showing that a name, birth date or photograph allows a device to remotely measure a person’s organs, blood chemistry or disease state.
And I do not present AO Scan that way.
Within the AO Scan framework, the client profile establishes the selected person or target used by the system.
That is the technology’s model.
How subtle or informational frequency relationships may operate at a distance is a much larger question—and one where wellness theories go considerably further than established clinical science currently does.
I am completely comfortable leaving room for questions.
Science has advanced because people continued asking questions.
But asking an interesting question is different from claiming the question has already been settled.
That line matters.
Is “Quantum” the Right Word for AO Scan?
You will hear the word quantum used throughout frequency wellness.
Actual quantum physics is, of course, legitimate science describing physical behavior at extremely small scales.
But the word has also become a very broad marketing term in wellness.
So I try not to use quantum as a magic word that supposedly proves how something works.
Calling something quantum does not scientifically validate it.
I would rather explain what AO Scan actually does inside its own system:
It establishes a profile.
It uses frequency-based modules.
It compares information with proprietary Blueprint Frequencies.
It produces reports.
It creates balancing frequencies.
And it provides tools for listening, broadcasting and imprinting those frequencies.
That tells you far more than simply saying:
“It’s quantum.”
Is AO Scan Bioresonance?
AO Scan is commonly discussed in the broader world of bioresonance and frequency wellness because both involve concepts of biological or energetic frequency patterns and resonance.
But bioresonance is a broad category, and technologies that use that label are not all doing the same thing.
AO Scan has its own software, modules, Blueprint Frequency library, voice-frequency features, reports and frequency-delivery options.
So if someone asks whether AO Scan is bioresonance, I usually explain that it belongs in the wider conversation around frequency and bioresonance wellness technologies, but understanding the actual AO Scan modules is more useful than relying on one category label.
Is AO Scan the Same as Radionics?
Not exactly.
The term radionics historically refers to systems built around the idea that information associated with a person or object can be accessed or influenced at a distance through an informational or energetic connection.
You can understand why someone researching remote AO Scan or frequency broadcasting may eventually encounter the word.
There are conceptual overlaps in the language of targets, informational signatures and working at a distance.
But I don’t think labeling AO Scan simply as radionics helps most people understand the technology.
The word also carries a long history of claims that have not been established by conventional science.
I would rather describe the features we can actually see and use than force AO Scan into an older label.
Is AO Scan Scientifically Proven?
This is another question where language matters.
There are pieces surrounding AO Scan that involve established science.
Acoustic frequencies are real.
Voice signals can be spectrally analyzed.
Bone conduction is real.
Digital software can compare datasets and generate reports.
But that does not mean every interpretation produced by AO Scan has been clinically validated.
Those are separate questions.
There has been early exploratory research looking at AO Scan outputs alongside conventional biomarkers, but that research is preliminary and should not be used to claim that AO Scan can replace laboratory testing or accurately diagnose medical conditions.
I would love to see far more research.
More participants.
Better controls.
Repeated studies.
Independent researchers.
Specific modules studied separately.
And very clear questions about exactly what is being compared.
That is how useful evidence gets built.
Can AO Scan Replace Bloodwork or Medical Testing?
No.
If I need to know my hemoglobin, I want a CBC.
If I need to know my blood glucose, I want an appropriate glucose test.
If I need to know whether a bone is fractured, I want imaging.
If I need a diagnosis, I want an appropriately qualified medical professional using validated diagnostic tools.
AO Scan answers a different type of question.
It gives me frequency-based wellness information that I can observe, compare and explore.
And sometimes that exploration can inspire me to ask a conventional medical question I had not previously thought to ask.
That is a much more responsible—and much more useful—relationship between the two worlds.
What Do I Do When the Same AO Scan Pattern Keeps Appearing?
Now we get to the part I care about most.
Because I have been using AO Scan for years, I rarely get excited about one isolated item anymore.
I get interested in patterns.
If something appears once?
Interesting.
If it appears again?
More interesting.
If related areas begin appearing around it?
Now I am paying attention.
Here is the thought process I personally use:
1. I Look for Repetition
Has this same category shown up several times?
Or did I see it once in one scan?
One result can be noise.
Repetition is more interesting.
2. I Look for Clusters
Is the same theme showing up in Vitals, Comprehensive and Body Systems?
Are several related items appearing together?
I would rather understand the forest than obsess over one tree.
3. I Look at My Real Life
What has been going on?
Did I sleep badly?
Did I travel?
Did I eat differently?
Have I been under unusual stress?
Am I dehydrated?
Did I start a new supplement?
Have I stopped exercising?
Am I overtraining?
Has my environment changed?
What is going on emotionally?
Context matters.
4. I Look at Trends Over Time
This is one reason I am so excited about having better ways to track AO Scan results across sessions.
A single scan is a moment.
Several scans can begin to tell a story.
I want to know what is changing.
5. I Decide Whether Something Deserves Conventional Confirmation
Sometimes the answer is no.
Sometimes I simply adjust something in my wellness routine and watch.
And sometimes I think:
“That is interesting enough that I want actual data.”
Then I get the appropriate conventional test.
I see those approaches as complementary tools for curiosity.
Not competing belief systems.
The Biggest Mistake New AO Scan Users Make
They scan too much and interpret too fast.
I understand why.
AO Scan gives you access to an enormous amount of information.
You get the technology and suddenly you want to scan:
everything.
Every day.
Several times.
And then scan it again.
My advice?
Slow down.
Learn the technology.
Click on the information.
Read what the categories represent.
Listen to your frequencies.
Notice what repeats.
Learn your own baseline.
AO Scan becomes much more useful when you stop treating every result like an emergency and start treating the information like a conversation.
The frequencies are valuable.
But so is the information.
What Does AO Scan Measure? The Simplest Answer
If you remember nothing else from this article, remember this:
AO Scan does not directly measure your body the way a blood test, imaging study or medical device measures physical biomarkers.
It works within a proprietary frequency-wellness framework.
It establishes a profile for the individual being evaluated.
It analyzes or compares frequency information through different modules.
It compares those relationships with its library of Blueprint Frequencies.
It organizes the information into reports.
And it can provide balancing or selected frequencies through several delivery options.
That is what makes AO Scan different.
And understanding that difference is the key to interpreting it responsibly.
Frequently Asked Questions About What AO Scan Measures
Does AO Scan measure blood?
AO Scan may display frequency information associated with blood components and biological functions, but it does not directly analyze a blood sample or produce laboratory blood values.
Does AO Scan measure hormones?
AO Scan includes frequency information associated with hormones, but its results are not hormone concentrations and should not be interpreted as blood, urine or saliva hormone testing.
Can AO Scan diagnose disease?
No. AO Scan is an educational wellness technology and is not intended to diagnose disease.
Are AO Scan numbers the same as laboratory values?
No. Numbers displayed within AO Scan represent relationships inside its proprietary frequency-reporting system. They are not interchangeable with conventional laboratory units.
What are Blueprint Frequencies?
Blueprint Frequencies are proprietary reference frequencies used within AO Scan. They provide comparison points for the system’s frequency-based reports and optimizations.
How does AO Scan use my voice?
Inner Voice analyzes tonal patterns within a short recording of your voice and uses those patterns to generate personalized balancing harmonics.
Does AO Scan need a photo?
A photo can be included with a client profile, but it is not always required. I personally still like using one when I create a new profile.
Is my email address part of my energetic signature?
I would not describe it that way. An email address serves practical account, communication or report-delivery purposes. The client profile is what identifies the individual being selected within AO Scan.
Can AO Scan work remotely?
AO Scan includes functions that allow a previously created client profile to be selected as the target even when the person is not physically beside the user. The concept of remotely accessing physiological information through an energetic signature has not been established as a conventional clinical measurement method.
Can AO Scan replace blood tests?
No. If you need a laboratory measurement, use an appropriate laboratory test. AO Scan provides a different category of frequency-based wellness information.
Is AO Scan bioresonance?
AO Scan is commonly discussed within the broader frequency-wellness and bioresonance space, although it has its own proprietary methods, modules and Blueprint Frequency system.
Is AO Scan radionics?
There are conceptual similarities between remote frequency technologies and historical radionics concepts, but I do not think simply calling AO Scan radionics accurately explains the technology or its individual features.
How often should I use AO Scan?
There is no reason to run every possible scan constantly. The best frequency depends on the module, what you are trying to learn and your personal routine. If this is your next question, read my guide AO Scan Usage: How Often Should You Really Scan?
Why I Still Find AO Scan So Fascinating
Join my AO Scan Global team and find out why!
After more than a decade with this technology, what fascinates me most isn’t one dramatic scan.
It is the patterns.
It is seeing something, forgetting about it and then seeing it again.
It is watching a pattern shift after I change something in my routine.
It is asking a question I would not have thought to ask before.
It is having one more way to pay attention to myself.
That is how I use AO Scan.
Not as a crystal ball.
Not as a substitute for medicine.
Not as permission to panic over every number.
I use it as an incredibly expansive wellness-information tool that keeps me curious.
And curiosity can be powerful.
Sometimes the most important information isn’t the answer.
It is the question the information inspires you to ask next.
